30th anniversary of the Capaci massacre
The "United States of the World", with the coordination of network members such as the FONDAZIONE CAPONNETTO and the FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO, celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Capaci massacre in which judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and escort agents Antonio Montinaro, Rocco Di Cillo and Vito Schifani were murdered by the Mafia.
Falcone was the man who, with the contribution of dozens of collaborators starting with Tommaso Buscetta, reconstructed the military and top-down structure of the Mafia, identified the perpetrators and instigators of the great slaughter in Palermo, and widened the mesh of relations between Cosa Nostra and power. With Paolo Borsellino and the other members of Antonino Caponnetto's pool, he set up the maxi-trial and sent an army of 474 defendants to trial.
In those years, the pool focused on a new investigative method that leveraged the search for mafia money and assets, the terrain in which hierarchies were formed and alliances and new interests were welded.
On this occasion, young people in various parts of Italy and around the world joined together to say 'NO!' to mafias and wars.
