Jordan protagonist for peace

The King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Abdullah Il, is visiting Rome to analyse the difficult situation in the Middle East.
After meeting with President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale, he was received by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The President and the Sovereign discussed the situation in the Middle East and hoped that the ongoing diplomatic efforts for a sustainable ceasefire and the release of prisoners, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2728, would soon be successful.
The two Leaders focused on the humanitarian situation: President Meloni expressed strong appreciation for the crucial role played by Jordan in this area and reiterated Italy's commitment to provide humanitarian assistance to the civilian population of Gaza, also in cooperation with Jordan.
Recalling the G7 Leaders' Declaration of 14 April, President Meloni reiterated the need to continue working on de-escalation at the regional level. The two Leaders also discussed the excellent bilateral relations that continue to develop in all areas.
President Capasso, on this occasion, recalled the long-standing friendship with Jordan, with the late King Hussein Bin Talal and the current Sovereigns, and the fundamental role that the Hashemite Kingdom plays in the peace process, especially at this difficult time in world history.
