The Italian Institute for the Future (IIF) deals with anticipation studies of major social, technological, cultural changes in civilisation. It includes CNS Center for Near Space, CEF Center for European Futures and two hubs; Between Science and Society and Speculative Design.
The CNS deals with scenarios on the human future in space and contributes to the dissemination of space culture among the younger generation and the general public, fostering a positive societal orientation towards the development of Civil Astronautics.
Near Space is the outpost of the socalled Fourth Environment, where for more than 50 years mankind has operated most and where the civil aerospace industry will focus. Near Space also means a space closer to human beings, a future environmental component of human life.
