With the growth in student numbers and the diversification of its educational and research offerings: it now has 13 university campuses - 9 of which are in Marrakech, 3 in Safi, 1 in Essaouira and a University Centre in Kelaa des Sraghna - with around 120,000 students and over 3,000 lecturers.
Since 1999, with the support of the then King Hassan II and later his successor Mohammed VI, it has been the seat of the Mediterranean Academy and the Fondazione Mediterraneo and - as of 17 May 2023 - the seat of the "United States of the World" for the southern shore.
An agreement signed on 16 May 2023 stipulated that the UCA will work for the United States of the World in the fields of education, scientific and technological research, dissemination of culture and scientific information, and international cooperation.
