Condolences for the death of Franco Di Mare

The Secretary-General, Prof. Michele Capasso, the Council of Ambassadors and the members of the "United States of the World" and the "Fondazione Mediterraneo" express their deep condolences for the premature death of Dr. Franco Di Mare, a journalist who shared the Foundation's commitment to aiding the peoples of the former Yugoslavia and who dedicated his life to dialogue and peace.

The new Marrakech headquarters turns one year old

A series of initiatives in Naples and Marrakech accompanied the celebrations of the first anniversary of the inauguration of the United States of the World Headquarters in Marrakech, which opened on 17 May 2023.
Secretary-General Michele Capasso expressed his thanks to the Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech and the entire Moroccan people who were among the first to support the United States of the World project.

Euromesco Annual Conference

The Annual Conference of the EUROMESCO network, of which the "United States of the World" with the Fondazione Mediterraneo has been a member since its inception, took place in Brussels. 
The EuroMeSCo 2024 Annual Conference aimed to shed light on possible future scenarios in the Euro-Mediterranean region and to contribute to the decision-making process by providing concrete answers to future challenges.
The world is increasingly complex, turbulent, and contested. It is facing the highest number of active conflicts since the end of World War II, with emerging actors gaining significance in the international order. Meanwhile, we navigate an era of technological advancement (AI), widespread misinformation and climate change continues to accelerate. The Euro-Mediterranean region is not immune to these challenges. The longstanding conflicts in Syria and Libya have recently been joined by the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Similarly, the interests and stances of actors such as Russia, China, the US, or Turkey have changed drastically in recent years and months, and migration in the Mediterranean is a constant that may be exacerbated by the effects of climate change. Both the world and the Euro-Mediterranean region are entering a new phase in which the scope and speed of change is exceptional.

The recipients of the “Mediteraneo Awards” 2024 in the various categories were announced in Fez.

The United States of the World together with the Fondazione Mediterraneo and other international institutions established the "MEDITERRANEAN AWARD" in 1995, which, in its various categories, has so far been awarded to more than 600 personalities from 180 countries committed to promoting dialogue, peace and safeguarding the planet. The "PRIZE" is recognised as one of the most prestigious at international level. The assignments take place during 3 ceremonies.
The first award ceremonies will be held at the Naples headquarters of the United States of the World - Via Depretis, 130 - on Monday 3 and Friday 7 June 2024 at 11 a.m. and the first awards will be presented. Ambassadors, scientists and men and women of culture from various countries will be present.
