For his research efforts in recent years, which have addressed the effects of Pfas pollution on human health. These chemicals are widespread: in water, food, food films and coatings, carpets, clothing, dust, wax, cosmetics. This exposure can be at the root of several pathologies: in particular, studies by Prof. Carlo Foresta have shown that pollution by these molecules can lead to testicular and renal tumours, osteoporosis in both youth and adults, alterations in thyroid function, infertility, and increased blood coagulability with consequent onset of cardiovascular pathologies. These studies have also shown how, even at relatively low concentrations, these substances can, especially in the most sensitive populations, such as the younger generation, lead to significant clinical alterations.
